Chlorination Certificate

Learn more about the various types of chlorination services we provide.

From newly installed water systems to existing ones.

New Water Main Chlorination

In order to maintain public health and water quality, it is necessary to disinfect and pressure test private supply pipes and mains falling under certain categories before connecting to the public water supply. Water Utility companies require proof that new mains do not leak and have strict guidelines and procedures for pressure testing. We offer a chlorination and pressure testing service for all new mains connections, following BS 8558 guidelines and specific water authorities' requirements.

Once the work is complete, water samples are collected and tested at a UKAS-accredited independent laboratory for analysis and tested inline with the Water Utility companies specification. The analysis report and chlorination certificate are then provided to the client.

Domestic Water System Chlorination

Chlorination via injection is a process used to disinfect and clean domestic water pipes, typically applied when installing new supply pipes or during the repair or upgrade of existing systems. The approved chemical is introduced at a start of the installation, and the treated water, with the correct chemical concentration, is pumped through the pipes. This process, combined with proper chemical strength and contact time, ensures effective disinfection.

Once the work is complete, water samples are collected and tested at a UKAS-accredited independent laboratory for analysis. The analysis report and chlorination certificate are then provided to the client.

Water Tank Chlorination Certificate

A water tank chlorination certificate is an official document that verifies the successful completion of the chlorination process for a water tank, ensuring the water is free from harmful bacteria and pathogens. It includes details of the tank or system being treated, the type and amount of chlorine used, the duration of the chlorination process, pre and post photos and the results of water quality tests conducted before and after treatment.

The certificate also provides information about the qualified technician who carried out the work, confirming that all procedures were carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations and industry standards. This certificate is often required to demonstrate compliance with legal or regulatory requirements for safe drinking water.

Process Water System Chlorination Certificate

A process water system chlorination is the procedure of adding chlorine to industrial or commercial water systems to disinfect and eliminate harmful microorganisms like bacteria and viruses. This ensures the water is safe for use in applications such as cooling systems or manufacturing processes.

Chlorine is introduced in controlled amounts, and after treatment, water samples are tested to confirm disinfection and compliance with safety standards. This process helps prevent microbial growth, corrosion, and system damage, ensuring the overall efficiency and safety of the water system.

FAQ's

What is a Chlorination Certificate?

A chlorination certificate is an official document that confirms the successful disinfection of a water system, typically following a chlorination process. It certifies that the system has been treated with an appropriate concentration of chlorine to ensure it meets health and safety standards for water quality. The certificate includes details such as the method of chlorination, the chlorine concentration used, the duration of exposure, and the results of any water quality tests. This document is often required by regulatory bodies, local authorities, or utility companies to ensure compliance with water safety regulations.

How much does a Chlorination cost?

The cost of a chlorination certificate can vary depending on several factors, such as the size and complexity of the system, the region, and the specific requirements of the local water utility or the principle builder.

On average, the cost for chlorination services, including the certificate, can range from £300 to £500 or more. This typically covers the disinfection process, water sampling, testing at a UKAS-accredited laboratory, and the issuance of the certificate.

What is the British Standard for Chlorination?

BS 8558:2015 is the recognised British Standard for chlorination, providing detailed guidelines for the safe and effective disinfection of water systems. It outlines the correct chlorine dosage, exposure times, and safe handling procedures to ensure the water is properly disinfected and meets safety standards. The standard also includes protocols for monitoring, testing, and verifying the effectiveness of the chlorination process.

By adhering to BS 8558:2015, water treatment professionals can ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain the highest levels of water quality. This standard helps guarantee the safety of water systems, providing confidence to clients, property owners, and water utility companies that the disinfection process meets industry best practices and legal obligations.
