What Are Our Services?

Discover more about the range of services we offer, along with the industry standards, legislation, and guidelines we strictly adhere to, ensuring the highest level of quality, safety, and compliance in all our work.

Our Services Include

Chlorination

Chlorination via injection or water tanks is a process used to disinfect and clean water tanks and, or domestic water pipes, typically applied when installing new supply pipes or during the repair or upgrade of existing systems. The approved chemical is introduced at a start of the installation, and the treated water, with the correct chemical concentration, is pumped through the pipes. This process, combined with proper chemical strength and contact time, ensures effective disinfection.

Once the work is complete, water samples are collected and tested at a UKAS-accredited independent laboratory for analysis. The analysis report and chlorination certificate are then provided to the client.

Pipeline Chlorination & Pressure Testing

In order to maintain public health and water quality, it is necessary to disinfect and pressure test private supply pipes and mains falling under certain categories before connecting to the public water supply. Water Utility companies require proof that new mains do not leak and have strict guidelines and procedures for pressure testing. We offer a chlorination and pressure testing service for all new mains connections, following BS 8558 guidelines and specific water authorities' requirements.

Once the work is complete, water samples are collected and tested at a UKAS-accredited independent laboratory for analysis and tested inline with the Water Utility companies specification. The analysis report and chlorination certificate are then provided to the client.

HVAC Commissioning & Maintenance

Commissioning of ventilation and the water treatment of heating, and cooling systems is essential when making modifications to older buildings or installing new systems. Our experienced team is fully equipped to perform validations and commissioning services tailored to meet the specific requirements of each client, ensuring a thorough verification of all mechanical system components.

We conduct our work in full compliance with CIBSE and BSRIA BG29/21 standards, with witnessing available throughout the process, followed by the necessary certification. This approach ensures that all systems are operating efficiently, safely, and in accordance with the highest industry standards.

Legionella Risk Assessments & Compliance Monitoring

In accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Approved Code of Practice (ACoP L8, HSG 274), it is the responsibility of duty holders, including employers and those in control of premises, to ensure the safety their employees and others who may be affected by their work, including the risk of Legionella. Our qualified and DBS registered assessors will conduct a thorough survey of the premises during the Legionella risk assessment, identifying potential risks such as non-WAS approved fittings, poor water tank conditions, and accessibility issues.

We also offer schematic drawing services and provide a comprehensive report outlining any risks and actions required to meet compliance with HSE's HSG 274 guidelines.

FAQ's

What is a Chlorination Certificate?

A chlorination certificate is an official document that confirms the successful disinfection of a water system, typically following a chlorination process. It certifies that the system has been treated with an appropriate concentration of chlorine to ensure it meets health and safety standards for water quality. The certificate includes details such as the method of chlorination, the chlorine concentration used, the duration of exposure, and the results of any water quality tests. This document is often required by regulatory bodies, local authorities, or utility companies to ensure compliance with water safety regulations.

How much does a chlorination cost?

The cost of a chlorination certificate can vary depending on several factors, such as the size and complexity of the system, the region, and the specific requirements of the local water utility or the principle builder. On average, the cost for chlorination services, including the certificate, can range from £300 to £500 or more. This typically covers the disinfection process, water sampling, testing at a UKAS-accredited laboratory, and the issuance of the certificate. For more precise pricing, contact us by clicking here.

Does my property needs a Legionella Risk Assessment?

All water systems must undergo a thorough Legionella Risk Assessment, especially those at higher risk of harboring and spreading Legionella bacteria. Failure to assess these risks can lead to serious health concerns, making proper evaluation essential.

At HTS, we specialise in Legionella Risk Assessments and testing. If you're unsure whether you're responsible for Legionella testing or which systems require an assessment, our expert team is here to help. We provide clear advice and tailored recommendations to ensure you meet all legal requirements and maintain a safe environment as per ACOP L8.

What is a Closed Loop System?

Closed loop water systems are a network of pipes designed to circulate water for cooling or heating across domestic, commercial, and industrial premises. The system allows water to flow through the pipes, exchanging heat for cooling or heating purposes.

The key feature of closed loop systems is that the water is intended to remain in the system for long periods, often indefinitely. Unlike open systems, where water is continuously replaced, the water in a closed loop is treated to maintain quality and ensure efficient operation. Regular monitoring and maintenance are essential to prevent issues such as corrosion, scale build-up, and biological contamination.

What water boards do we cover?

Our chlorination certificates are fully compliant with the requirements of all UK water boards. We ensure that our chlorination processes meet the specific standards set by each regional water authority, including Anglian Water, Thames Water, Affinity Water, and others. Our team follows the latest industry guidelines, including BS8558, to guarantee that the disinfection of water systems is carried out effectively and in line with regulatory requirements. After completing the chlorination process, we provide a certified document that is accepted by all UK water boards, giving you peace of mind that your system is fully compliant and safe for use.

What is the British Standard for Chlorination?

BS 8558:2015 is the recognised British Standard for chlorination, providing detailed guidelines for the safe and effective disinfection of water systems. It outlines the correct chlorine dosage, exposure times, and safe handling procedures to ensure the water is properly disinfected and meets safety standards. The standard also includes protocols for monitoring, testing, and verifying the effectiveness of the chlorination process.

By adhering to BS 8558:2015, water treatment professionals can ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain the highest levels of water quality. This standard helps guarantee the safety of water systems, providing confidence to clients, property owners, and water utility companies that the disinfection process meets industry best practices and legal obligations.
